Teresa Gerringer
Teresa has been a dedicated member of the Lafayette Community Foundation Board of Directors serving two terms as president (2012-2013); vp fund development (2014-2016) and vp communications (2017). Teresa was elected to the Lafayette City Council in 2018 and is serving a one-year term as Mayor of Lafayette beginning in January, 2022. As an active community leader, she served as a charter member of the Lafayette Library & Learning Center Foundation Board; co-chair, the Lafayette Library & Learning Center Community Capital Campaign; and advisor, Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. Teresa’s volunteer and professional education advocacy and policy work includes local, regional and state leadership roles with the California School Boards Association (Delegate Assembly, Legislation & Nomination Committees); CA State PTA (advisor, Board of Directors); WestEd; the CA Comprehensive Center; Contra Costa School Boards Association; Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs; Lafayette School District Governing Board (2000-2018); local parent-teacher organizations, bond and parcel tax campaigns, and the local education foundation. Teresa currently serves as communications director for Supervisor Diane Burgis, Chair of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, having previously served as district director, CA State Senate Seventh District, and as a political strategist, education consultant, and former vice president – information services at a venture capital company. She received her M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and B.S. – Public Administration from Indiana University, Bloomington. Teresa, her husband, Michael, and their two daughters have lived in Lafayette since 1995.
